Algirdas Šochas, born in a family of musicians in Vilnius, Lithuania, is one of the most promising young violinists, working on a global stage. He took his first violin lessons from his mother at an early age of five, entered the Lithuania's National M. K. Čiurlionis Gymnasium of Arts at the age of nine, and debuted as a young-virtuoso solo violinist by playing Czardas of V.Monti together with the Lithuanian National Chamber Orchestra under the conduction of Maestro Saulius Sondeckis at the age of ten.

  • His talent and initiative allowed him to be recognised and awarded in a high number of international competitions since he was twelve years old, scoring 1st place at the international competition in Sigulda, Latvia, 1st place in "Gradus at Parnasum" in Kaunas, Lithuania, top awards at Z. Fibich and L. Janacek competitions in Vilnius, 2nd place at "Elise Meyer" competition in Hamburg, Germany. Algirdas has always been a frequent participant in festivals such as "Moscow meets friends" - a festival curated by a world-famous violinist and conductor Maestro V. Spivakov, "Opus XXI" in Avignon, France, and many others.

  • In 2008, Algirdas Šochas started his academic career at the International Music Academy "Incontri col Maestro" in Imola, Italy, tutored by Professor Pavel Berman. After a successful completion in 2010, he joined the Higher Music and Theater Academy of Hamburg, Germany where he was tutored by Professor Boris Garlitsky and Tanja Becker-Bender, and graduated with bachelor's (2015) and master's (2017) degrees.

  • Algirdas Šochas performs actively on a global stage. He has already carried out multiple performances in his home country Lithuania and abroad: Germany, Russia, Azerbaijan, France, Belarus, Latvia, Italy, Estonia, Netherlands, Belgium, and Austria. The violinist has been playing as a soloist with many orchestras such as Azerbaijan State Chamber Orchestra by Gara Garayev, NI & Co Chamber Orchestra, Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra, Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, Hamburg HfMT Symphony Orchestra under conduction of maestro Ulrich Windruhr and many more.

  • Algirdas devotes a lot of time to the chamber music and had an honour to play with the violinist Joanna Kamenarska, the pianist and composer Leon Gurvitch, the president of the Deutsche Grammophon, the clarinet player Dr. Celemens Trautmann, and others. Together with his close friends and colleagues he established the Confero Piano Quartet.

  • Furthermore, Algirdas has been a scholar in a few organisations, namely M. Rostropovich Foundation in Lithuania between 2007 and 2010, "Oscar and Vera Ritter Stiftung" in Hamburg since 2011, and Yehudi Menuhin's "Live Music Now" organisation in Hamburg since 2014.
    Algirdas Šochas was awarded by the President of Lithuania, Valdas Adamkus. He also received the Queen Morta Award for his achievements in violin music. In 2015, Algirdas was awarded with an exclusive scholarship dedicated for the most promising young generation violinists from Bereneberg Bank in Hamburg.

Currently, he is continuing his postgraduate academic studies in the Higher Music and Theater Academy of Hamburg, Germany.
